As humans it is almost impossible to avoid hardship at some point in our lives.

These difficult experiences often leave us feeling stuck, defeated, and lost. It can be difficult to navigate through this alone… so, that’s where I come in.

Together, we will work to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. We will take a deeper look into your experiences thus far, including interpersonal relationships, trauma, and other life stressors to understand the root cause of your symptoms and develop strategies to manage them.

You will gain a greater sense of self-awareness and understanding to ensure a successful path towards reaching your goals.

There are a variety of therapeutic approaches/interventions that may work best for you to reach your goals successfully. We will work collaboratively on finding what approaches may work best and create an individualized treatment plan.

Notebook, coffee and ear pods for therapy with Lindsay

I obtained my bachelor’s degree in international studies with a focus on European culture, and a few years later went on to receive my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. With a degree in international studies, I’ve developed a passion for research and have learned to analyze the connection between international culture and customs. I often find this approach naturally flowing into the therapeutic space as I learn more about you and your culture, and how it pertains to your identity.

My passion for research and learning encouraged my pursuit of gaining additional training and education post grad school. I have received extensive training in anxiety disorders and eating disorders, and with this, I’ve learned what interventions/approaches work best to help reduce symptoms and behaviors. If you are struggling with social anxiety, OCD, panic, phobias, and/or an eating disorder, I may be the right therapist for you.

When I am not in my office or reading up on the latest mental health research, you will find me snowboarding in the winter months, snuggling with my cat Chester, traveling, getting tattoos, enjoying the outdoors, and reading.

My Approach to Therapy

My therapeutic foundation is person-centered. With compassion and openness, I offer an easy-going and genuine approach to providing your care. This foundation allows me to make sure everyone who steps into my space feels comfortable and safe. Additionally, I incorporate these 3 adjectives into my approach:

Mindfulness: Mindfulness is a mental practice and state of awareness that involves paying focused and non-judgmental attention to the present moment. It’s often associated with meditation, but it can also be integrated into daily life. Mindfulness is an evidence-based tool that has proven to be a significant factor in reduction of anxiety symptoms.

Solution Focused: Although delving deeply into past issues and analyzing root cause of a problem is important, so is finding practical solutions to current problems. We will learn to utilize what we learn from past issues and how it pertains to our current problems to create an action orientated plan so we can reach out goals in the present.

Self-compassion: self-compassion is crucial for promoting emotional well-being, building resilience, and nurturing positive mental health. It allows us to navigate life’s challenges with greater ease and cultivate a more compassionate relationship with ourselves, ultimately leading to a happier and more fulfilling life.
