Hey, I’m Alaina!

Do you struggle with feeling stuck in life, uncertain of what is the best decision for yourself to be able to move forward? It can be difficult to feel confident in your decisions when self-doubt, anxiety, negative thoughts, and discontentment surround you.

So, thank yourself for taking a step to change the patterns that no longer serve you!

In our work together, you will develop skills to help create new habits to feel more fulfilled with who you are as a person and therefore in life. You will identify what is important to you, what brings you joy and value, outside of society’s norms or others’ opinions. You will create actionable steps to help move you towards a more fulfilling life.

Therapy is unique for every person!

My career has provided experience in a variety of roles as a primary therapist in the partial hospitalization setting and outpatient mental health. I have had opportunities of continued growth, learning different therapeutic modalities and working with clients from all different walks of life.

I have experience working with young adults working through life transitions (relationships, college, career choices, parenting), as well as working with people who struggle with body image and eating disorder related behaviors.

I have engaged in post graduate training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy and am a Meditation Practitioner. I also pull from other well-known therapeutic modalities, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to help serve each individuals specific needs.

Outside of my role as a therapist, I am a dog lover, I enjoy doing puzzles, dancing and being by the water.

My Approach to Therapy

Laying the foundation: We all have different skill sets when it comes to our mental health and what helps us when we are struggling. Having a strong foundation of coping skills, self-care practices, and awareness will help you to feel more stable and secure in moments of struggle. Further it will then help you to work towards your goals and build yourself up.

Mindfulness Based: We often are going from task to task or multitasking, not allowing ourselves a moment to breath and appreciate the moment we are in now. Yes, planning and goal setting can be helpful for us, and we can plan for the future without letting the moment pass us by. Using mindfulness-based practices encourages us to feel more grounded or centered. Allowing ourselves to observe, immerse ourselves and enjoy the here and now without becoming attached. Mindfulness techniques assist us in separating our unhelpful thoughts and uncomfortable emotions from what is meaningful to us; therefore, empowering us to move forward in a way that is fulfilling to us.

Empowering: We are going to work together to help you feel encouraged to implement the skills you are developing. I am committed to helping you feel empowered, knowledgeable, and worthy of overcoming obstacles and taking the steps you need to live a more fulfilling, meaningful life.
