Reduced Rate Therapy Program

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially when finances are a concern.

Our Reduced Rate Therapy Program is designed to make support more affordable while still offering thoughtful, high-quality care.

We believe therapy should be accessible, supportive, and grounded in real clinical experience.

Clients in this program work with graduate-level clinical interns and pre-licensed therapists who are completing advanced training and working toward licensure in New York State. These clinicians provide therapy services while receiving ongoing supervision, consultation, and oversight from fully licensed clinicians within the RocCity Counseling Network.

Sessions are offered at reduced rates and offer sliding scale fees, making therapy more financially accessible.

Working with a graduate-level clinical intern offers several meaningful advantages:

  • Experienced care at a reduced rate – Many interns bring years of clinical and professional experience
  • Multiple layers of support – Your care benefits from both your therapist and their licensed supervisor
  • Evidence-based treatment – Interns are trained in current, research-supported approaches
  • Intentional and attentive care – Smaller caseloads allow for deep presence and thoughtful preparation
  • Ethical oversight – Regular supervision ensures high standards of care and accountability

For many clients, seeing a clinical intern provides high-quality therapy that is both affordable and effective.

Graduate-level clinical interns at RocCity Counseling bring substantial education and training to their work. Typically, interns have:

  • Completed an undergraduate degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Completed the core coursework for a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (or a closely related graduate program), covering areas such as counseling theories, assessment, ethics, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Completed or are in the process of completing a year-long supervised clinical internship, providing hands-on experience under the guidance of a licensed clinician.
  • Received ongoing supervision and consultation to ensure ethical, effective, and high-quality care.
  • Engaged in training on evidence-based approaches, including modalities like ACT, CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care, depending on their focus and prior experience.

While interns are completing their graduate requirements, many bring years of professional experience in mental health and adjacent fields ensuring that clients receive skilled and compassionate care.
