Hi, I’m Amanda.

Most people don’t come to therapy because things are going great. They’ve usually tried to push through it, ignore it, or wait for things to settle down. Sometimes that works. Often, it doesn’t.

I work with people facing anxiety, stress, substance use, relationship challenges, parenting, trying to conceive, and major life transitions. Sometimes it’s less about one issue and more about feeling overwhelmed or unsure how to keep up. Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of what’s going on, and decide what comes next.

I work with teens navigating behavioral challenges, family conflict, legal issues, or school difficulties, as well as young adults figuring out who they are and where they’re headed. Many adults I see are balancing work, relationships, and countless responsibilities while wondering how to manage it all. Some are trying to grow their families, while others are in the midst of raising them. Many are so focused on caring for everyone else that they’ve lost track of themselves.

We’ll work through whatever you’re dealing with and find ways to make things feel more manageable.

Amanda Knipfing, LMHC-D, CASAC

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, and later became a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) to deepen my work with individuals navigating substance use and recovery.

Over the years, I’ve worked in correctional facilities, outpatient substance use programs, mental health clinics, and schools. I’ve provided therapy to teens and adults, supervised clinicians, and supported people facing mental health, behavioral, and substance use challenges.

What I’ve learned over time is people are often doing the best they can with the tools they have. Meaningful change becomes possible when people feel understood, supported, and challenged in the right ways.

Outside of work, I’m a wife and a mom to three kids and a dog. I spend my days as a therapist and then head home to get humbled real quick by my kids, who remind me daily that no amount of counseling training prepares you for finding a missing water bottle five minutes before school starts. When I have free time, I enjoy reading, trying new restaurants, and convincing myself that this is the week I’ll finally become someone who works out consistently.

My Approach to Therapy

Authentic
I show up curious, honest, and engaged. I value open conversation, will challenge you when needed, and believe therapy works best when you can show up as yourself.

Practical
Therapy should be useful. Together, we’ll focus on understanding what’s going on while building tools and strategies you can use in your everyday life.

Aligned
Therapy isn’t just about feeling better. It’s about living in a way that feels consistent with your values, priorities, and the life you want to create.
